Lafayette Parish schools show gains in 2016 performance scores

The Lafayette Parish School System improved by 7.1 points in the state’s 2016 performance scores, released Thursday.

The district maintained its “B” rating, but its score increased from an 89.2 to a 96.3. That puts Lafayette Parish at No. 19 among Louisiana’s districts, an improvement from its No. 27 ranking last year.

“The academic gains by the Lafayette Parish School System are nothing short of extraordinary,” Superintendent Donald Aguillard said at a press conference.
