Lafayette, LA—Goodwill Acadiana invites the community to two grand opening events on June 28. The first will be held at their new Goodwill retail store located at 1225 Kaliste Saloom Road.  It will begin at 9 a.m.  The other ribbon-cutting is at 11a.m. and will take place at their recently relocated and renovated Mission Services office at 2435 W. Congress.

For over three decades, Goodwill Acadiana has assessed the needs of our community and adjusted their operations as required to multiply and enhance the services offered to the region.  After evaluating their potential areas for growth, Goodwill decided to relocate their Mission Services program to their corporate office.  This dual-purpose building that houses both the administration and their Mission Services department will now be referred to as the “Goodwill Acadiana Opportunity Campus.”

The relocation has allowed for more people to access Goodwill’s services, as well as provide state-of-the-art electronic upgrades including new computers for public use, and SMART boards for their HiSET classroom and employee training room.  Additionally, Goodwill hosts community events such as job clubs and computer classes at the new campus.

Goodwill Acadiana repurposed their former Mission Services building by turning it into its newest Goodwill retail store. The new retail space on Kaliste Saloom provides 6,000 square feet of additional shopping to our Lafayette community, and extra opportunities to turn donations into beneficial services via its drive-thru donation center.

“Goodwill Acadiana is transformative in the sense that we convert gently used items into funding for programs that enhance the lives of people in our community,” said President and CEO Deacon Ed Boustany. “These services include free High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) courses for adults, employment & job-seeking services, affordable housing placements, and crisis assistance.  After assessing the needs of Acadiana, it logistically made sense to move Mission Services to a more central location in Lafayette. Now, a larger number of individuals can access our building and get the needed assistance to improve their quality of life.”

The dual grand opening gives the public a chance to see the new “Opportunity Campus” as well as be among the first customers to shop at the new Kaliste Saloom store. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to stop by.

Since Goodwill Acadiana’s inception in 1990, they have led efforts to assist with employment, education, housing, and crisis assistance needs.  The organization employs over 300 team members, and in 2023, they diverted 7.4 million pounds of previously used items from landfills by way of their re-sale and recycling programs.  Goodwill Acadiana’s Opportunity Campus continues to be available and is open to anyone who needs these services. To make an appointment with our Mission Services team visit our physical location at 2435 W. Congress St. or call 337-769-7650. Goodwill’s Opportunity Campus is open Monday-Thursday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
