[Lafayette] April 4– Acadiana area nonprofits can apply through May 1 for $5,000 grants totaling more than $25,000 funded by Cox’s unique employee-funded giving program, Cox Charities. Nonprofits that serve within Cox’s service areas can apply now by visiting the Cox Charities website and filing out an application.

Cox Charities Community Investment grants will be awarded to nonprofit organizations with outstanding programs that benefit the Acadiana-area Cox Communications service areas. Funds are targeted toward nonprofit programs that focus on education, technology, social issues and the arts.

“The cash raised and awarded by Cox employees stays right here in Acadiana and is more important than ever for nonprofits hit hard this year by economic challenges,” said Erin Monroe, market vice president for Cox’s operations in Greater Louisiana which includes Acadiana, along with Baton Rouge and its nearby areas. “Cox Communications and our employees are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Louisianians, and these donations will support the work of the hometown communities we are privileged to serve.”

Since 2006, Cox Charities grants awarded in the Central Region of Cox’s operations have supported educators and nonprofit organizations with support totaling more than $10 million.

Cox Charities grant awards are in addition to Cox’s corporate grants and sponsorships awarded each year.
