1A attends ESSA open house meeting

July 26 marked a turning point in Louisiana public education with the start of a series of regional public meetings about ESSA -  the Every Student Succeeds Act, which replaces No Child Left Behind.

In the meeting, attended by 1A, and hosted by Educate Louisiana, State Superintendent of Education, John White highlighted how the public, including parents, teachers and community members have been charged with helping to build the state’s ESSA compliance plan.

Stay tuned for information on successive ESSA meetings, which will provide the public the opportunity to change the state accountability system.
