University of Louisiana at Lafayette center attracts bioscience project from North Carolina

A task force named by Gov. John Bel Edwards proposed Thursday that state aid for roads and bridges increase by $700 million per year, and that raising the state gasoline tax is the "most reliable" way to do so.

"That is what we are asking," said Shawn Wilson, secretary for the state Department of Transportation and Development and co-chair of the panel. "That is what we need to fix what we need to fix, and achieve what we need to achieve."

Project is one of only two nationwide winners of $40,000 award to improve community air monitoring

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has selected a Lafayette, Louisiana, project as one of only two nationwide awardees of the Smart City Air Challenge. The challenge encourages communities to install hundreds of air quality sensors and share the data with the public.

EDC was started in 2001 by Scott Lavergne with the goal of bringing top notch IT support to businesses of all sizes.

Lafayette General Medical Center (LGMC) was named a 2016-17 Consumer Choice Award Winner by National Research Corporation (NRC) for its eighth-consecutive year. LGMC has won the award every year it has been given since 2002. The award identifies hospitals across the United States chosen by healthcare consumers as having the highest quality, the best doctors, nurses and imaging.

On November 30, 1A welcomed three leaders of the Task Force on Structural Changes in Budget and Tax Policy to discuss the Louisiana Department of Revenue's recommendations on statewide comprehensive fiscal reform.

One Acadiana (1A) has joined the Gulf Energy Alliance as an “Alliance Partner.” The Alliance is dedicated to supporting policies that encourage investment, innovation, and job creation in the offshore energy industry in the Gulf of Mexico.

Specifically, the Alliance is opposing new federal regulations on oil & gas leaseholders in the Gulf of Mexico, which are being pushed by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM).
