Give us a brief history of your company.

EDC was started in 2001 by Scott Lavergne with the goal of bringing top notch IT support to businesses of all sizes. As EDC grew we were able to add expertise, so now we are able to provide stellar support to solve issues correctly the first time. We also maintain vendor relationships to be able to provide support beyond what is offered to end customers. In 2013 EDC branched out to New Orleans to better serve our clients with multiple locations. That office continues to grow rapidly.

What would you tell the rest of Acadiana makes you special?

EDC is special because of our employees. They are all dedicated to doing a great job, and they are all just great people. They all understand how important IT is to a company's survival, and will often interrupt their personal time to make certain everything is running smoothly. Everyone really cares about doing what is best.

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of how we have been able to give back to the community. Beyond normal donations and sponsorships, we have started a program that refurbishes old computers and donates them to local non-profits. So far we have been able to provide computers for 3 labs. So if you know any non-profit looking for basic desktop computers have them give us a call.

Where do you see your business in 10 years? What are your plans for the future?

In 10 years we plan to have several locations outside of Acadiana and provide service to all of Louisiana. We plan to keep our base of operation in Acadiana, because there is no place we would rather be!

1A is “Focused on Forward” – meaning we are taking an active role of improving the community we live in. Our members are Focused on Forward, too! - What does Focused on Forward mean to you? How is your company Focused on Foward?

EDC is definitely Focused on Forward. For us it means not just doing what puts money in the bank, but using our talents to improve the community. Our employees belong to civic clubs like Rotary, the 705, One Acadiana, and Boy Scouts of America. Our owner Scott sits on the Board at the Better Business Bureau and our Director of Managed Services, Roddy Bergeron, is on the board for the Academy of Information Technology. We all have a responsibility to improve our community, and in the end we will all reap the benefits of making Acadiana a better place.
