Business Opportunities and Incentives in South Louisiana

Industrial Plant in South Louisiana

Acadiana is a collection of nine parishes (counties) located in south central Louisiana along the Gulf of Mexico. Its hub city, Lafayette, lies at the intersection of Interstates 10 and 49, connecting the region to national markets via road and rail, and international markets via air and an extensive port system.

This rich infrastructure of road, rail, and airways provides company leaders and entrepreneurs with the accessibility they need to start a thriving business. In Acadiana, the economic landscape is as rich as its cultural roots.

The combination of a growing technology sector, a historically resourceful workforce, and a strong post-secondary education system has attracted diverse industry leaders such as Bell Helicopter and CGI to the Acadiana region. Our skilled workforce compliments our growth-friendly business climate – including right-to-work status, low operating costs, and a quality of life and sense of community that is unmatched outside of Louisiana’s culturally vibrant Acadiana parishes.

Leveraging the region’s portfolio of assets, One Acadiana (1A) is fostering the creation and retention of businesses in the region. Beyond traditional market research and site selection services, One Acadiana exists to help businesses of all sizes and industries navigate through Louisiana’s varied business and tax incentive programs, while aligning state and local resources to provide custom incentives packages.

Certified Sites

The time to expand your business within Louisiana has never been more promising. In 2016, our region’s state-certified “shovel-ready” areas of land grew by 274 percent, providing ample room for commercial growth. Through active marketing of these certified sites, Acadiana is now more competitive and primed to recruit new businesses to the region.

With a total of 820 certified acres and counting, we are creating a landing pad for relocating and expanding businesses. During 2016 alone, One Acadiana facilitated the certification of two new industrial sites, including Freeland – the largest site in the region at 536 acres – and the  64.3 acres adjacent to the Acadiana Regional Airport, which are ideal for aviation-related businesses. Three additional sites totaling 720 acres are slated to undergo the rigorous third-party review process in early 2017. Thoroughly reviewed to guarantee safety and structure for new developments, each site is strategically positioned to major roadways to optimize connectivity for your business.

Grow with One Acadiana

Businesses looking to expand or relocate to the Acadiana region gain unparalleled access to business leadership in the community, as well as aid in the recruitment of a quality workforce through 1A’s talent attraction and retention program. With these resources, many national and global businesses have found success in the state.
