The likelihood of follow-through is promising.

On Monday, May 15, One Acadiana will guide a caravan of leaders from the nine-parish region into the Louisiana State Capitol to show their pride for Acadiana in what they have dubbed “Acadiana Day.”

The procession will meet with the Acadiana Legislative Delegation members, attend committee meetings, see the legislative process in action and hear a special proclamation address in support of the completion of I-49 South.

A delegation of 75 Acadiana business and community leaders are spending three days in Lexington, Kentucky, to learn lessons from the region that they can apply back home.

The delegation got the lay of the land Monday, hearing how the Lexington area’s economy transformed from being primarily driven by agriculture and coal mining to having a host of key players, including manufacturing, health care and logistics.

Much of that was achieved through regional cooperation.

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) –  Lafayette Parish voters will decide the fate of the school district’s half-cent sales tax when they head to the polls on Saturday, April 29.

Some residents have expressed concern that the district could be promoting the tax using taxpayer dollars or why is the Diocese of Lafayette — a private entity — supporting the LPSS tax?

The shepherd for Lafayette Parish's Catholic community urged a yes vote in the parish-wide April 29 sales tax election, calling the half-cent, 10-year initiative "a small sacrifice that will reap a great good, benefiting every citizen in Lafayette Parish."

Bishop Douglas Deshotel's declaration of support was made Wednesday before some 40 community leaders gathered in the shadow of some of the 31 temporary classrooms at Lafayette High School.
