Give us a brief history of your company.

Acadiana Profile Magazine is a Regional Cultural Lifestyle magazine that has been publishing for 49 years. The magazine was started by the late Robert J. Angers Jr. in 1968 and his son Trent Angers took the helm, serving as publisher and editor for 36 years. In 2010, Angers sold Acadiana Profile to Renaissance Publishing. Renaissance has continued to stay true to the culture and the tradition of French in the magazine and also systemized the schedule so it publishes six times per year.

What would you tell the rest of Acadiana makes you special?

The magazine celebrates the best of Acadiana, with special emphasis on the people who define the region, from artists and chefs to people in the business community and of course the myriad beautiful natural assets of the area. We also are the only premier subscriber-based magazine direct mailed throughout Acadiana.

What are you most proud of?

A leader in the industry, and one of the oldest regional titles in the United States, the magazine focuses on the rich heritage and culture of Acadiana. We also have a sophisticated, affluent and educated readership that is active and engaged in the community. Most recently, Acadiana Profile won seven awards and was a finalist for Magazine of the Year at the International Regional Magazine Association awards. It was the first year as a member of the organization, which made the recognition all the more special.

Where do you see your business in 10 years? What are your plans for the future?

We plan to continue to grow and develop a larger online audience. For example, look for the new Acadiana Profile blog at acadianaprofile.com, which is slated to launch in the coming weeks. We also look forward to expanding upon what we are doing and develop into a larger publishing presence.

1A is “Focused on Forward” – meaning we are taking an active role of improving the community we live in. Our members are Focused on Forward, too! – What does FoF mean to you? How is your company FoF?

We work hard to find and build partnerships within the community to cultivate relationships, as well as highlight the people, businesses and organizations that are doing great things around the region. Furthermore, we seek to tell the stories of compelling individuals and worthwhile businesses and nonprofits and frequently sponsor the many social, business or charity events in Acadiana.
