LAFAYETTE — One Acadiana has announced new appointments to its regional board of directors.

The more than 80-member board of the economic development organization and chamber of commerce will focus on business development, policy, and investor and member engagement initiatives.

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)- In 2016 One Acadiana launched a new event series that allows the community to engage and learn more about the CEO’s behind the big businesses. This year’s event featured Al Gonsoulin, CEO of  Petroleum Helicopter Incorporated.

The number of new businesses in Acadiana continues to grow. With this, comes an increase of fresh new faces ready to lead and expand their companies.

Al Gonsoulin got his start with Petroleum Helicopter International, Inc (PHI) in 2001. At the time it was a company on the verge of bankruptcy. How did PHI, Inc turn it around?

1. Give us a brief history of your company.

Towny was founded two years ago with a mission to encourage people to buy, bank, and give locally and reward them for doing so. Strong local economies create strong communities that cornerstones such as schools, parks, and public safety services depend on to thrive. We are creating and growing a network to help build stronger communities.

Experience young leaders in action at a The Leader in Me leadership event on February 9th at Martin Petitjean Elementary.

Martin Petitjean Elementary was one the first The Leader in Me (TLIM) schools in Acadiana to achieve Lighthouse status. Attending a Leadership Day at a Lighthouse school allows guests to learn about The Leader in Me on the deepest level possible.

There has been talk for years about the Oil Center getting a major facelift. Recently there has been another push to help make this possible.

As the Downtown Development Authority has collaborated with One Acadiana to get the ball rolling again.  Established in 1951. the Oil Center has been the Hub of the oil industry in Lafayette.

For many years, as you walk around the many buildings and hundreds of businesses you can see the signs of age starting to show.

The goal is to ultimately make the Oil Center much more user-friendly.

One Acadiana, Lafayette's regional economic development organization, will hold its 2018 Regional Celebration on Friday, February 28th at the Cajudome Convention Center.

The celebration, held yearly, brings together business owners and community leaders from across Acadiana to network and celebrate the progress the region has made based on economic development and community initiatives established during the last year. 

Hospice of Acadiana was established in 1983 by a group of forward-thinking individuals who believed that when medicine said there was nothing more that could be done, they felt there was still plenty more to do.
