Recap: Second Special Session

Louisiana’s Second Special Session of 2018 ended at midnight on June 4 without agreement on how much revenue the state needs for the new budget year that begins July 1.

The main purpose of the session was to address a looming fiscal cliff, estimated at $648 million, as certain temporary taxes, including a fifth penny of state sales tax, are set to expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

1. Give me a brief history of your company. I received my certification 5 years ago from the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT). In 2015 I obtained my Senior Fitness Specialist certification (SFS). My clients are either trained in my home gym, their home or even their office. The age range for people that I have trained is from 26 to 90.

President Donald Trump has appointed Lafayette attorney Frank Neuner to the Board of Directors of the Legal Services Corporation. The LSC is the nation’s single largest provider of legal assistance grants for low-income Americans. 

U.S. Sens. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and John Kennedy (R-LA) welcomed the news, praising Neuner's extensive work helping low-income individuals in Louisiana gain access to legal services.

Following the retirement of  William “Bill” Bacqué, Lafayette native Troy Hebert has been named President of Van Eaton & Romero Realtors®, an ERA powered Latter & Blum Company.

Hebert most recently served as Vice President at Van Eaton & Romero. He joined the firm in 2011 when Stirling Properties, a group he managed at the time, merged with Van Eaton & Romero.
