Our restaurant was named after Phil’s father, who was given the nickname “Fezzo”, the Cajun French word for wood spool, because of his love for making toys out of his mother’s left-over spools. Phil Faul and Pat Bordes opened their flagship restaurant in Crowley, in July of 1999, followed by their second store in Scott in October of 2000. Seeing the need for a larger establishment in Scott, they expanded to a new building in the fall of 2006. Ten years later, their newest restaurant addition, in Broussard, opened last November. Fezzo’s has been voted Best Cajun Restaurant for 8 years in a row in the Times Best of, and has a large catering company that allows us to serve on and off-site parties with ease.
2. What would you tell the rest of Acadiana makes you special?
We pride ourselves on providing the customer with a true Cajun experience. From the food to the service, we strive to show the guest the traditional Cajun hospitality and food that so many of our customers grew up enjoying. With many of our recipes coming from our Cajun grandmothers and mothers, our new and recurring customers can appreciate a little taste of Cajun Tradition each time they dine with us.
3. What are you most proud of?
We are most proud of our Fezzo’s Family! We consider every employee family at our Crowley, Scott, and Broussard locations. This family is what makes us successful. We are also most proud to proclaim being locally owned and operated right here in Acadiana and support our local businesses and community.
4. Where do you see your business in 10 years?
What are your plans for the future? Our current goal for Fezzo’s is to continue providing Cajun hospitality and Food at all three of our locations.
5. 1A is “Focused on Forward” – meaning we are taking an active role in improving the community we live in. Our members are Focused on Forward, too! - What does Focused on Forward mean to you? How is your company Focused on Forward?
We love to support other members of our community by using as many local vendors and companies that we can to keep revenue within our community.
Being focused and forward for us means always trying to be better than the day before. Being a local company we provide much needed support to local schools, non-profits, churches, etc. Locals support us and we support them so we do appreciate all business that comes to us as our profits remain and are spent right in our own communities.
