Member Spotlight: Indoor Recreation

1. Give us a brief history of your company.

Indoor Recreation sells and services game tables including pool, air hockey, foosball, and ping-pong tables, as well as sells pool cues, ball sets, cloth, racks, pub tables, arcade games, juke boxes, poker tables, bars, barstools, and clocks. And It all started in a garage!

Jonathan Goudeau ran his own route for his father’s commercial billiard business where he worked as a parts manager. After nine years there, he branched off to start a strictly retail billiard business due to the demand he saw for home recreation. When he first got started, his garage housed the supplies, as well as served as the base for services and repairs. From there, he moved to a retail strip mall for five years, until he built a new location in 1996 where Indoor Recreation still stands today.

2. What would you tell the rest of Acadiana makes you special / what are you most proud of?

Recently, Indoor Recreation’s physical building got a bit of a makeover because changing with the times is important in any industry.

3. Where do you see your business in 10 years? What are your plans for the future?

In the billiards business, it’s important for customers to walk into a showroom and be able to envision what their personal game room could look like. “I think it’s important to stay fresh, give customers a new look when they come in, as often as possible…If you don’t stay on top of it, your competitors will,” Jonathan says.

This is a niche industry, so it’s hard to find someone with the skill set you need,” he says. Indoor Recreation, however, has overcome this challenge and is staffed with people who are knowledgeable, helpful, and caring, as Jonathan perfectly put it, “You can never go wrong doing the right thing. We take care of our customer base. We make sure they’re happy, and I try to treat them as though I would want to be treated. We resolve issues that may arise to make sure our customers are satisfied and happy

Jonathan understands that a successful business starts with strong customer service, and excellent customer service starts with hiring the right people.
