Movies filmed in Lafayette Parish begin airing next week on Lifetime and ION Channels

Lafayette, LA - Three films made in Lafayette Parish this year are set to premiere over the holidays. These films will feature locations, actors and events familiar to citizens of Lafayette Parish, including Noel Acadien au Village at Acadian Village and Downtown Christmas decorations.

EUNICE — Riceland Crawfish is planning a $3 million expansion, one that will allow the company to add 10 jobs and 30-40 seasonal jobs.

Riceland Crawfish got its start in 1984 out of a pickup, and now the company is spending $2 million on a new facility, which will be behind the Sub Zero Storage building, located on the city's east side at 5348 E. U.S. 190, and $1 million for new equipment to process crawfish and alligator meat.

Eunice, LA – Today, One Acadiana (1A) and St. Landry Economic Development (SLED), joined Riceland Crawfish, producer of Louisiana crawfish and alligator meat products, in the announcement that the company will expand their Acadiana-based operations. The expansion will result in 10 new direct, full-time jobs; the retention of 60 jobs; capital expenditures of $2 million in the construction of a new 33,000 sq. ft. building; and an additional $1 million spent in new equipment.
Over the past year, eight of the nine school districts in the 1A region maintained their annual letter grade, even under the state’s more rigorous grading system. Among the highlights: Vermilion Parish is one of only four districts in the state to earn an ‘A’ rating, and Early College Academy in Lafayette Parish is tied for the second highest performing school in the state.

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) - In a recent national report, Louisiana ranked 45th in the country as best states for transportation.

Eight months into the job, One Acadiana CEO and president Troy Wayman has been focusing on the regional infrastructure visioning report, or RIVR, which highlights the top road projects to tackle in the nine parish region. 

"It's narrowed down to 21 projects that have strongest regional impact," Wayman said. 

Pat Lewis, Lafayette councilman for District 3, says more prep may save money in the long run.
