1. Give me brief history of your company?
J&J Exterminating was founded in 1960, in Crowley, LA by Robert John Sr. and his brother Harry, an entomologist. The two brothers got their start by knocking on doors and asking for business. Robert Jr. now president of J&J says, “I grew up in the business, working at the company during summers, evenings, and weekends. In 1984, after graduating from University of Southwestern Louisiana, I joined full-time and have strived to carry on the professionalism that my father instilled in me.” “Keeping the business in the family and our community was of utmost importance to me.”
2. What would you tell the rest of Acadiana makes you special?
There are many things that we would say makes us special to Acadiana. We are a faith-based company that has been around for over 50 years. J&J Exterminating is the largest independent locally owned and operated pest control company in the state. We currently have 12 offices which allows us to service every parish in the state.
3. What are you most proud of?
There are many accomplishments that we are most proud of here at J&J Exterminating. We have been voted Times Best Of for 10 years running, Locals Love Us for 8 years running, and we have an A+ integrity rating with the Better Business Bureau. We are also proud to be able to support many local charity fundraisers in the community.
4. Where do you see your business in 10 years? What are your plans for the future?
J&J Exterminating is looking to continue to grow within the next 10 years. We have plans to expand into new markets in the future.
5. 1A is “Focused on Forward”- meaning we are taking an active role of improving the community we live in. Our members are Focused on Forward, too! What does Focused on Forward mean to you? How is your company Focused on Forward?
J&J Exterminating has become what it is today thanks to the communities that we serve. We are always willing and ready to give back to the community. We are actively involved with St. Jude Dream Home each year. J&J Exterminating supports everything from recreational sports programs, Catholic Dioceses, Kiwanis, church fundraisers, and school benefits like Christmas in April. Having serviced Shawdows-on-the-Teche in New Iberia, as well as Vermilionville, J&J Exterminating is helping preserve Louisiana’s landmarks. Staying involved with our local communities is an integral part of our business.
