OPELOUSAS, La. (St. Landry ED) – Today, St. Landry Parish Economic Development with One Acadiana (1A) announced Port Barre Industrial Park East site, 86.80 acres and Port Barre Industrial Park Central site, 36.85 acres, have been certified under the Louisiana Economic Development (LED) Certified Sites program.

Working with partners across the region, One Acadiana’s site development efforts respond to the needs of site selectors and relocating businesses. Having a landing pad for businesses is a crucial ingredient to attracting jobs and investment to the Acadiana Region.

One Acadiana, the region’s nine-parish economic development organization, was joined on Friday by St. Landry Parish Economic Development to announce two newly certified sites in St. Landry Parish.

The Port Barre Industrial Park East site and Port Barre Industrial Park Central cite were certified under the Louisiana Economic Development (LED) Certified Sites program. The sites at 86.60 and 36.85 acres are the thirteenth and fourteenth certified sites in the Acadiana area and the third and fourth in St. Landry Parish.

Economist on Acadiana's business climate: "We're gaining a little bit back, but we're not gaining it back at a quick pace"

Economic growth in Acadiana appears to be slowing, but this is not necessarily an indicator of an impending recession, according to University of Louisiana Lafayette's Acadiana business economist Dr. Gary Wagner.
