One Acadiana hosted a luncheon today featuring University of Louisiana System President and CEO Jim Henderson to announce the launch of their new Complete LA initiative.

Complete LA aims to re-engage Louisianians who have some college credit, but no degree.

The program aligns with One Acadiana’s 55 by 25 initiative by providing support to adults who are considering returning to college to earn a bachelor’s degree.

Complete LA offers free coaches to guide students to adult-friendly programs housed within the nine UL System member institutions and reduce any barriers to re-enrollment.

“A college degree is now the pathway to social and economic mobility. It also gives you the knowledge, skills, and ability you need to compete in this new technologically advanced world,” said Jim Henderson.

The luncheon was held at the Picard Center on E. Devalcourt St. in Lafayette from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Also at the luncheon were One Acadiana President and CEO Troy Wayman and UL Lafayette President Dr. Joseph Savoie.

Henderson added, “We think Compete LA will be a transformational initiative.”
