1. Give us a brief history of your company.
Northwestern Mutual was founded in 1857, in the state of Wisconsin. The company based itself on being an elite Life Insurance company, while establishing its talents in succeeding in the field. Today, Northwestern Mutual has grown to provide access to investment products, insurance products, and advisory services. The primary goal of protecting clients has been Northwestern Mutual’s priority since 1857.
2. What would you tell the rest of Acadiana makes you special?
I feel that I should tell Acadiana of my progress in this evolving town, while having zero connections here. I graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a Liberal Arts Degree, while maintaining a position in the finance industry for the past 5 years. It was a stressful transition for this New Orleans native, with no support in this city, but I am thankful that it has allowed me to grow and establish myself as the business-driven adult that I always aspired to be.
3. What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the connections that I have made in Lafayette! I believe that an individual is shaped by their surroundings and environment. The impact that these locals have made continues to better my life, and wholeheartedly appreciate this chapter of my life. I have learned about the passion that Lafayette locals have for their community, family, and culture. I was hesitant to love another place as much as I love New Orleans, but my close friends have allowed me to admittingly love Lafayette just as much.
4. Where do you see your business in 10 years? What are your plans for the future?
In 10 years, I can see our business filled with more women. The saying goes “Women are the Future,” but I also believe that women are continuing to strengthen in the present. I look forward to (hopefully) seeing females grow and succeed in the finance industry.
My plans are to make an impact so grand that I can look back and visibly see a change. I know I will be in a very different place in my life, so plans are uncertain, but I can assure you that I will be happy. Happiness is my ultimate goal.
5. 1A is “Focused on Forward” – meaning we are taking an active role of improving the community we live in. Our members are Focused on Forward, too! – What does Focused on Forward mean to you? How is your company Focused on Forward?
To me, Focused on Forward means that the past should merely be used as a tool in order to make the appropriate changes for a happier future. Forward is the direction in life that we are always moving, and it is important to focus on that, so that the past does not hinder your passions and progress.
My company is Focused on Forward, because we are committed to making an impact on employees, clients, and the community in a meaningful way. Every day is focusing on “insuring” that everyone involved has a comfortable and secure future. Our reps are constantly participating in workshops and study groups to gain more insight on this business because, as our lives move forward, they recommend the proper coverage. We are proud of the work we provide to individuals, as well as local charities.
