A new technology help desk was unveiled Wednesday to assist parents, guardians and students in Lafayette Parish with online learning issues.
The help desk was created through a partnership between the Lafayette Parish School System and the Love Our Schools Link & Learn initiative.
"Love our Schools has partnered with the Lafayette Parish School System to help them address the digital divide issue that's been plaguing our community for quite some time," said Ryan Domengeaux, general counsel for the Schumacher Family Foundation. "In order to do that we figured that we would need to help them create a help desk to support all of the people who would be educated virtually."
Parents, guardians and students can access the technology help desk by going online to helpdesk.lpssonline.com or by calling 337-273-0755.
The online access will be available 24/7 for assisting with questions related to internet connectivity and device usage.
Representatives will also be available to take tech calls Monday through Friday from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm.
"Our help desk currently is up and running from 7 am to 4 pm each day and on the child's chrome book there is a phone number to call from 7 am to 4 pm each day," said LPSS CAO Jennifer Gardener. "That help desk is employed by our school employees currently in our system"
All LPSS students, including those currently enrolled in Lafayette Online Academy, may use the technology help desk for assistance.
