LOVE OUR SCHOOLS SHARES THE LOVE WITH ALL LPSS TEACHERS AND STAFF

LAFAYETTE, La. – Love Our Schools is at it again, doing what it does best – celebrating the Lafayette Parish School System teachers and staff! In a show of appreciation for all that they do for our children and our community, Love Our Schools is gifting ear buds/headphones to LPSS so that the district can give to all teachers and staff across the entire district.

“This past school year has been like no other and we know how hard the LPSS teachers and staff have worked to ensure that our children are receiving a quality education, whether in-person or virtually. We wanted to offer this token of appreciation to make sure they know that their incredible efforts have been recognized and that they continue to make a difference every day,” explains Erica Doerle Ray, Director of Operations for the William C. Schumacher Family Foundation, co-founder of the Love Our Schools initiative.

“Our schools’ teachers and staff are heroes every school year, but they have especially earned that title this year, quickly and frequently adjusting to so many new regulations and processes due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” shares LPSS Superintendent Irma Trosclair. “We are thrilled to honor this incredibly special group of people and so appreciative that our community has joined together for this.”

As always, Love Our Schools ensures that the community can be involved in its efforts as much as possible and this appreciation project was no different. Organizations including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana, Boys & Girls Club of Acadiana, Lafayette Parish Correctional Center, Love Acadiana, One Acadiana, Pugh Family Foundation, St. Thomas More Catholic High School, UL Lafayette College of Education, United Way of Acadiana, William C. Schumacher Family Foundation, and Women of Wisdom (WOW) came together to organize the initiative, write thank-you notes for all of the teachers and staff and also pack the ear bud/headphone boxes for distribution.

“When we heard about this latest Love Our Schools initiative, we knew we wanted to be involved,” says Phyllis Coleman Mouton, President and founder of Women of Wisdom (WOW). “This is such important work, inspiring the men and women who work with our children every day. It is truly our honor to be a part of such an encouraging and exciting project.”
