The elevated stretch of Interstate 49 along the edge of downtown Lafayette will be built “in most of your lifetimes” thanks to $200 million in one-time funding approved by the state legislature, one Lafayette lawmaker said.

Senate President Page Cortez, speaking during this morning’s legislative session recap put on by One Acadiana, said the money could keep the project moving and include funding to improve the bridge over the Vermilion River. The project will be kicked off in the spring of 2023, he said.

LAFAYETTE – On June 22nd, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) announced its 2022 Circle of Excellence Awards winners across the globe, which included Acadiana’s own South Louisiana Community College (SLCC).

Noel Builders LLC provides residential construction and remodeling services to clients throughout southeast Louisiana. Jonathan Noel, owner of Noel Builders, represents four generations of entrepreneurs within his family providing these services, which first began with his great-grandfather and was passed all the way down to him.

Jon is the first to form the LLC, create a brand around it, and apply business principles to the work that his family has been doing for many years as his father is now passing the torch to him.

Vibrant Acadiana website earns international distinction

LAFAYETTE, La., June 14, 2022 – The winners of the 28th Annual Communicator Awards have officially been announced by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts. One Acadiana has received two Silver Awards of Distinction for its Vibrant Acadiana website. The website was awarded silver in the categories of Community Websites and General Websites.

Amedisys Home Health, One Acadiana and Lafayette Council on Aging have partnered to host a fan and water drive, benefiting the members of the Lafayette Council on Aging. The drive is scheduled to take place on June 30, 2022, from 7am- 10:30am at the One Acadiana office, located at 804 East St. Mary Blvd. We are accepting fans and cases of water. Fans can be new or used.

Area Development magazine recognizes Louisiana for job creation and business investment

BATON ROUGE, La. – One of the nation’s leading economic development trade publications has presented Louisiana with a 2022 Silver Shovel Award, recognizing the state as one of the nation’s leaders in statewide capital investment and job creation during 2021.

Lafayette, LA - Red River Bank hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its first full-service banking center in the Acadiana market on June 7, 2022. Located at 1911 West Pinhook Road in Lafayette, this branch opened on January 26, 2022, as Red River Bank’s 27th banking center in Louisiana.

It was a relatively quiet final week of session at the Capitol, as the state operating and capital outlay budgets, two items that are typically debated through the last minutes of the session, were sent to the Governor’s desk last month. Several 1A-supported priority bills also made it to the finish line earlier in session, though a few key measures still on 1A’s radar were finalized last week or are still pending action.
