Member Spotlight: Gulf Coast Social Services

1. Give us a brief history of your organization. 

Gulf Coast Teaching Family Services, Inc. d/b/a Gulf Coast Social Services – the Agency is a private, nonprofit corporation founded in Louisiana in 1983 to provide human service programs for Louisiana citizens.

2. What would you tell the rest of Acadiana makes you special?

Gulf Coast Social Services empowers people with mental, physical, behavioral, and other challenges to improve the quality of their lives and to live as independently as possible in the community.

3. What are you most proud of?

Gulf Coast Social Services is currently serving seven regions in Louisiana (Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Houma, Lafayette, Lake Charles, New Orleans, and Northshore).

4. Where do you see your organization in 10 years? What are your plans for the future?

Gulf Coast Social Services is committed to providing the best possible services to clients in the community and hopes to continue to service our communities in need, in that, we continue to further our services in the next 10 years.

5. 1A is making an impact as we take an active role in improving the community we live in. Our members are making an impact, too! - What does impact mean to you? How is your company making an impact?

We work strongly with our mission and vision, and we see that One Acadiana provides similar opportunities to our community – the team approach to provide the people of our communities with the highest possible level of quality of life is a common goal.
