1. Give us a brief history of your company.

Gulf Coast Social Services is a non-profit agency that empowers people with mental, physical, behavioral, and other challenges to improve the quality of their lives and to live as independently as possible in the community. Our vision is dedicated to providing the people we service with the highest possible quality of life and to enable them to live as independently as possible in their community.

2. What would you tell the rest of Acadiana makes you special?

Gulf Coast Teaching Family Services, Inc. (OBA) Gulf Coast Social Services began our services in 1983 to provide comprehensive human services programs for Louisiana citizens, children and adults with various physical and/or mental challenges, including those labeled; developmentally disabled; brain injured; delinquent; emotionally disturbed; and mentally ill.

3. What are you most proud of?

That through our 36 years of services as a non-profit with all the ups and down of the economic markets and stresses, we still maintain a positive workforce in the community. The Agency seeks to establish and maintain good working conditions and favorable employee relations.

4. Where do you see your business in 10 years? What are your plans for the future?

I see another 36 years plus with new innovative energy and hope for future developing services for those in need.

5. 1A is “Focused on Forward” – meaning we are taking an active role of improving the community we live in. Our members are Focused on Forward, too! – What does Focused on Forward mean to you? How is your company Focused on Forward?

Focused on Forward – this means a lot to Gulf Coast Social Services as we serve a population that sometime gets forgotten. We see the smiling faces and the companionship that we all need to be part of our wonderful community that we share in Lafayette and other parishes we serve.
