Through the support of local businesses, The705 and SLCC are partnering again this year to host the 2022 Case Competition for SLCC students. This competition provides SLCC students and young professionals with an opportunity to leverage knowledge and experience to identify a solution to a real-world scenario. Participants build and exhibit analytical, critical thinking, and written and oral communication skills. Teams consist of 2-4 students, therefore they also gain practice working in a team. 

1. Give us a brief history of your organization. 

Focus Clubhouse incorporated in 2018 and opened doors in 2020. We are a resource for adults living with mental illness. The Clubhouse model has a proven program toward recovery and hope and has been in existence since 1948, the first clubhouse opened in 1948 and is still operating today.

2. What would you tell the rest of Acadiana makes you special?

LOUISIANA – Entergy Solutions is offering a new bonus incentive that offers small businesses more money when they apply this fall to complete energy-saving facility upgrades in 2022.

Project will centralize offshore support services, resulting in more than 100 new jobs in the Acadiana Region

The U.S. economy may be headed toward a recession in early 2023, but economist Loren Scott said he thinks Louisiana and the Acadiana area will continue to add jobs despite the economic uncertainty.

Scott spoke to One Acadiana members on Wednesday, delivering his annual forecast for the statewide economy. During his presentation, Scott looked at some of the region’s recent economic successes, how the oil and gas industry may change moving forward and how the region could weather a potential recession in the next year.

Graze Acadiana, the well-known charcuterie boutique located at 113 Arnould Blvd, has officially launched Graze Oil, Acadiana’s first-ever Olive Oil Tasting Bar.

Graze Oil, an olive oil tasting bar is a destination to sample ultra-premium olive oils and to learn about their varying flavor profiles and how to pair them with their signature balsamic vinegars, imported from Modena, Italy.

The Lafayette area could gain 5,300 jobs over the next two years, but the region’s economy is likely to be held back by slow drilling activity in the Gulf of Mexico, according to the Louisiana Economic Forecast, an annual report published by economist Loren Scott.

Scott’s report was unveiled Wednesday morning at a One Acadiana event.  

The report projects the Lafayette area will gain 1,200 jobs (0.6%) in 2023 and 4,100 jobs (2%) in 2024, tied with Baton Rouge for fourth best among Louisiana metros for 2024.

Worth Counseling Group was created out of the desire to cultivate more opportunities for counselors to have a more sustainable career. Counselors tend to burn out at an accelerated pace working in hospitals and community organizations. Worth Counseling Group’s goal is to create balance in counselors work and personal life.

2. What would you tell the rest of Acadiana makes you special?

On Sept 21, South Louisiana Community College (SLCC) celebrated the graduation of over 60 new certified commercial drivers, upon their completion of a five-week program designed to quickly train students for a high-demand, high-wage new career.
