1. Give us a brief history of your organization.
Planet Fitness was founded in 1992 and has evolved to a gym where everyone feels comfortable. In 2010, Kevin and Dottie Windham opened up their 1st Planet Fitness in Lafayette, La and have continued to grow their franchise over the years. Currently the Windham’s own 13 locations from Crowley to LaPlace, Louisiana.
2. What would you tell the rest of Acadiana makes you special?
At Planet Fitness, we’re extremely proud of being home to the Judgement Free Zone®. We believe anyone, of any fitness level, should feel accepted and respected when they walk into a gym. Our non-intimidating, welcoming environment fosters a sense of community among all members and encourages them to work toward their health and fitness goals – no matter how big or how small.
3. What are you most proud of?
We are most proud of our Judgement Free Zone. We take pride in knowing that we are able to provide a non-intimidating, low-cost facility to anyone looking to better their health.
4. Where do you see your organization in 10 years? What are your plans for the future?
Our franchise is looking to develop more clubs throughout our region and potentially beyond.
5. 1A is making an impact as we take an active role in improving the community we live in. Our members are making an impact, too! – What does impact mean to you? How is your company making an impact?
Impact to us means changing lives, even in small ways. Planet Fitness is a great way to maintain a healthy lifestyle, which can benefit you both mentally and physically.
