College unites to recognize Dr. Vincent June, sixth Chancellor of SLCC
LAFAYETTE – The Inauguration of Dr. Vincent G. June, sixth chancellor of South Louisiana Community College, will be celebrated April 20-27, 2022. His inauguration – which is nearly two years in the making - will be commemorated through a weeklong series of activities involving students, faculty, staff, donors, and community members.
SLCC would like to recognize Platinum Sponsor LHC Group and all their generous sponsors for their support in helping Inauguration Week happen. LHC Group has been a vital partner of the college since 2016. In 2020, LHC Group and the Myers Family Foundation announced an unprecedented investment in the college, involving a 5-year project to create a national model for home health education.
There are several opportunities for the public to participate, too, including two “Coffee with the Chancellor” events, a luncheon in coordination with One Acadiana, and the Installation Ceremony presented by LHC Group. The public is invited to the ceremony formally installing June to be held at the CAJUNDOME Convention Center on April 27th at 10 am.
Bentley Senegal, Director of Community Services with Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, will serve as the Installation’s Master of Ceremonies. Special guests on the ceremony schedule include Lafayette Mayor-President Josh Guillory; Troy Wayman, president & CEO of One Acadiana; and Stacey Grow, vice president of marketing with LHC Group. Dr. Anthony Pinder, inaugural vice provost for internalization & equity at Emerson College in Boston, MA will join the festivities as the Keynote Speaker. The community is encouraged to join in the celebration in person or online via live stream (accessed via the SLCC website or Facebook page).
After a national search, June, who served as interim chancellor beginning in June of 2020, was promoted in December 2020. The new chancellor replaces former Chancellor Natalie Harder, who left SLCC on June 30 to become president at Coker University in South Carolina. She had been SLCC’s chancellor for eight years.
Through his tenure in higher education, June has successfully secured state and federal grant funds, as well as participated in fund-raising and partnership development activities to support academic programs, student development, scholarships, and institutional resources totaling over $52.4 million. June has extensive accreditation, institutional merger-realignment, and governing board experience. His research interests include college-wide assessment to support retention, educational leadership in the academic and student affairs profession, and academic success for special populations in higher education.
