1. Give us a brief history of your organization.
With over 25 years’ experience in the HVAC industry, we started FilterGenie because we think the entire process of changing out your filters is a major hassle. First, you have to remember. Then, you must get in the car and go to the store. Finally, the most frustrating part, they never have your size. FilterGenie.com makes it easy to change your air and water filters by automatically shipping filters to you, at your house, at the exact moment they are due for a change. All you must do is pick your sizes and quantities on our very easy to use website, and we do the rest. You never have to remember or make the trip to the big box stores again. Our headquarters are right here in Lafayette, but we proudly serve customers all over the U.S.
2. What would you tell the rest of Acadiana makes you special?
We are the only service of our kind in the area. We feel like we are a huge part of a change in the way people have done things for a long time. There is a better process for changing out your air filters and we are here to show people show to do that. We know we aren’t saving any lives, but we offer an affordable solution to a never ending, very aggravating hassle. It’s one less thing you have to deal with.
3. What are you most proud of?
We are proud that we get to be a small part of making our customers lives just a little bit better. Not only are we taking the hassle out of the actual replacement of the filters, we are also improving the air quality and water quality for our customers and their families. It gives us great joy to know that we are a part of creating healthier homes for our customers. I would also add that we are very proud of our filters. We offer top notch products. Our refrigerator water filters not only make your water taste great, but are NSF 53 certified as well. That means they filter out over 53 impurities such as lead, mercury, cysts and others. Our air filters are also made from recycled materials and are made in the USA. We ship our products in 100% recycled materials and over-engineered our boxes so that our customers can repurpose them to help keep them out of landfills and minimize our impact on the environment.
4. Where do you see your organization in 10 years? What are your plans for the future?
Air Filters and Water Filters are just the beginning. We have plans to add several other items to our offering. We will follow the same subscription model for those items and will stick with items than enhance your daily home life and increase the health and well being of you and your family. Lafayette will always be our headquarters, but as we grow our service in other areas, we plan to open regional distribution centers. This will allow us to serve our customers better and more efficiently in different areas of the country.
5. 1A is making an impact as we take an active role in improving the community we live in. Our members are making an impact, too! – What does impact mean to you? How is your company making an impact?
We feel we are directly impacting the lives of our customers by improving the air quality and water quality inside their homes. Something as simple as cleaner air in the home can translate into less sickness and more productivity for the great people of Acadiana. Aside from our direct impact with our products, our plan is to contribute and give back in different ways. Whether it’s distributing our product to those that need it or contributing to and being an active part of some of the great organizations that already make Lafayette a better place to live.
