LAFAYETTE– Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) announces the addition of Dr. Alvaro Manrique, cardiac electrophysiologist, to its team of physicians in Lafayette.
As an electrophysiologist, Dr. Manrique specializes in diagnosing and treating atypical heart rhythms and conditions relating to the electrical activity of the heart. He is seeing patients at CIS locations at 2730 Ambassador Caffery and 441 Heymann Boulevard.
Dr. Manrique attended medical school and completed a year of internship in Arequipa, Peru. His internship and residency in internal medicine was completed at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he also completed his fellowship in cardiovascular disease. His fellowship in clinical cardiac electrophysiology was completed at University Hospital Case Western Reserve at Harrington Heart and Vascular Institute in Cleveland, Ohio, where he was also named chief fellow.
Dr. Manrique is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology. He is a member of the Heart Rhythm Society and has a particular interest in nitric oxide treatment and atrial fibrillation.
