LAFAYETTE, La. – Today, Broussard Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) and Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA) with One Acadiana (1A), and Entergy announced that a 64.80-acre site located in Lafayette Parish has been certified under the Louisiana Economic Development (LED) Certified Sites program.

The Loul’s Landing site is Acadiana’s twenty second certified site and is the seventh certified site in Lafayette Parish.

Working with partners across the region, One Acadiana’s site development efforts respond to the needs of site selectors’ and relocating businesses. Establishing a landing pad for businesses is crucial to attracting jobs and investment to the Acadiana Region.

“Loul’s Landing is the City of Broussard’s fifth certified site”, said Broussard Mayor Ray Bourque. “The certified site program has been successful with our first certified site – SafeSource Direct – which projects to bring 1,200 jobs to the area. This success is a direct result of the partnerships between Broussard and organizations committed to our growth, such as Broussard Economic Development Corporation, Lafayette Economic Development Authority, and One Acadiana. The synergy of these partnerships allows us to provide a competitive advantage to attract large manufacturing facilities to our great city. These large employers ultimately bring jobs to our residents – not only in our city – but also in our region.”

“I am proud of all the work Mayor Ray Bourque and his team have been doing in Broussard,” said Lafayette Mayor-President Josh Guillory. “Loul’s Landing is now the fifth and largest certified site in Broussard. Having development-ready sites are key to attracting new businesses not only to Broussard but all of Lafayette Parish. These certifications place Broussard in a position to attract a wider range of projects that will benefit Acadiana for many years to come.”

BEDC, Entergy, LEDA, and One Acadiana worked together closely to secure the certification of Loul’s Landing. One Acadiana’s Site Development program is designed to increase the region’s portfolio of marketable, development-ready sites by certifying land within the nine-parish region. This is achieved through partnership between One Acadiana, local economic development partners, Louisiana Economic Development, and landowners.

“We congratulate our partners in Broussard on the certification of Loul’s Landing,” said Troy Wayman, President & CEO of One Acadiana. “As we continue to collaborate as a region and certify sites, we are improving Acadiana’s economic competitiveness and ensuring that businesses looking to start, relocate, or expand in our region have a place to land.”

“Having available, vetted sites is imperative for successful growth and economic development in our communities which is why site certification is a top priority in LEDA’s new strategic plan for the parish,” said Mandi D. Mitchell, LEDA President and CEO. “I applaud the efforts of Mayor Bourque, the Broussard Economic Development Corporation, and the property owners on their efforts to advance business expansion and investment in the City of Broussard and Lafayette Parish.”

“Adding to Louisiana’s portfolio of development ready sites is one of the most effective ways to retain existing businesses or attract new ones to the area and create jobs for people in our communities,” said Perry Pertuit, Entergy Louisiana business and economic development manager. “We’re proud to continue working with our local, regional and state partners to help communities like Broussard grow.”
