1. Give us a brief history of your organization.

Our founder, Dr. Arial Moore, spent a decade teaching essential life skills and sexual health to teens and young adults. As more students started to reach out, she realized how imperative it was to expand the effort to get this information out. In 2020, Dr. Moore officially started Safe Havynn Education Center as a tax-exempt 501c3 organization, which also gave the opportunity to apply for grants. Safe Havynn Education Center is located in downtown Lafayette, however, we travel throughout the entire state of Louisiana to teach these life skills.

2. What would you tell the rest of Acadiana makes you special?

We educate to empower others. The goal is to not shame or guilt anyone, but to empower them through providing knowledge, with hopes they make healthy decisions based on the information they know.

3. What are you most proud of?

Our team is an amazing group of women who value education, health and wellbeing. They are the heartbeat of our company and give our mission life. Also, stakeholders and community partners get to see what their students are going through and realize these life skills are essential to their growth now and in their future.

4. Where do you see your organization in 10 years? What are your plans for the future?

We see us being a power house in teaching essential life skills in schools and in our community. I see us making lessons fun and engaging, while making waves across Louisiana and planting seeds in both our parents and in our youth. We want to continue being a safe place for everyone to come and learn something about themselves and ask questions without judgement.

5. 1A is making an impact as we take an active role in improving the community we live in. Our members are making an impact, too! – What does impact mean to you? How is your company making an impact?

Impact, to us, looks very similar to planting a seed. We plant the seed and provide a supportive environment so that these seeds take root and grow into them being their favorite version of themselves. We are planting seeds in Louisiana and bringing 2.8 million dollars to Louisiana where it would have gone to another place. That’s groundbreaking!
