Environmental consulting firm ATC Group Services has relocated its corporate office to Lafayette following the company’s purchase last year by Bernhard Capital Partners, a private equity firm led by former Shaw Group CEO Jim Bernhard.

In a last-minute flurry of legislative action Wednesday, state lawmakers ended a 25-day special session by filling nearly all of the immediate budget shortfall, but they left themselves with the prospect of having to make painful cuts later this year in government programs that are popular with the public.

Louisiana legislators will begin considering those cuts – estimated to be $800 million – when they begin the regular session on Monday and have to balance next year’s budget nearly three months later.

A recent addition to Lafayette’s growing high-tech sector announced on Tuesday that it will ramp up hiring in south Louisiana after being awarded new contracts totaling $45 million.

Job seekers, many of them from the energy sector and out of work, flooded the Cajundome Convention Center for a career fair Thursday, where the booming petrochemical industry was looking for hands.


The economic climate looked much different in 2014 when a fledgling organization kicked off its campaign to unite businesses in nine Acadiana parishes and create an Acadiana-based chamber of commerce.

With 1,200 member business and a five-year, $3 million budget, One Acadiana went full steam ahead and hired new directors, an administrative staff to move its agenda forward.

Louisiana Economic Development (LED) has partnered with the Community Foundation of Acadiana (CFA) and INNOV8 Acadiana, a CFA company, to deliver a high-powered CEO Roundtable series in Acadiana commencing in July 2016. EXCELERANT, an award-winning Lafayette-based leadership development and human resources solutions company, has been selected to facilitate the roundtable series.


A poll of 500 likely voters in Lafayette Parish found that 81 percent think it’s important to complete Interstate 49 South through Lafayette, the regional economic development group One Acadiana announced Thursday.

About 55 percent of those polled believe the I-49 Connector — the portion of the interstate passing through the city limits — could improve the surrounding neighborhoods, according the poll results.


While conducting a recent poll about the proposed Lafayette Parish School System millages (which the Lafayette Parish School Board voted Tuesday to remove from the ballot), One Acadiana polled frequent voters about the Interstate 49 South connector, according to a news release issued Thursday by the regional chamber of commerce.
