BROUSSARD, La. – One Acadiana (1A) in partnership with Lafayette Economic Development Authority, City of Broussard, Entergy, and SLEMCO announced that a 16.54 acre site has been certified for development under One Acadiana’s Site Development Program in partnership with Louisiana Economic Development (LED).
Referred to as the HAS Ltd. Business Site, this property offers a valuable opportunity for businesses seeking to locate or expand in Acadiana. The site is positioned just off of U.S. Highway 90 in Broussard and is less than five miles from the Lafayette Regional Airport.
An LED certified site is one that is shovel-ready, having completed a rigorous review process to answer as many development questions as possible. One Acadiana’s Site Development Program is designed to expand the region’s portfolio of marketable, certified sites by identifying vetted properties with strong development potential across the nine-parish region. This process completes the due diligence needed to better position sites for business attraction. By aligning site readiness efforts with the expectations of site location consultants and expanding businesses, the program helps the region compete more effectively for new investment.
Since its inception, One Acadiana has certified 37 sites, representing over 3,000 acres of development-ready land across Acadiana. Certification of the HAS Ltd. Business Site marks One Acadiana’s 7th certified in 2026 alone – the most by any region in the state – demonstrating the organization’s commitment to advancing economic development by ensuring site readiness.
“Certified sites are a critical tool in positioning Acadiana to compete for new investment,” said One Acadiana President & CEO Troy Wayman. “With its location just off Highway 90, proximity to the Lafayette Regional Airport, and readiness for commercial development, this site strengthens our ability to attract businesses looking for well-connected, shovel-ready properties. This certification also marks Acadiana’s seventh certified site this year—the most of any region in the state—and reflects the momentum we’re building to ensure our region is prepared for growth. We celebrate this milestone alongside Lafayette Economic Development Authority, the City of Broussard, Entergy, and SLEMCO and value their partnership in the site certification process as we enhance Acadiana’s competitiveness.”
Raising Acadiana’s total number of certified sites to 37, the HAS Ltd. Business site represents Lafayette Parish’s 13th certified site – the 4th certified this year alone.
“Certified sites strengthen a community’s ability to attract new businesses and drive economic growth,” said President & CEO of Lafayette Economic Development Authority Mandi Mitchell. “Through careful preparation and a commitment to site certification, the City of Broussard is ready to meet the needs of today’s investors. Because the due diligence is already done, companies can create local jobs, expand our tax base, and bring economic opportunity to residents faster than traditional development would allow. We are grateful for our partnership with Louisiana Economic Development, One Acadiana, our local communities, and so many property owners in our community.”
“In Broussard we believe in the power of proactive economic development strategies and this addition reinforces why site selectors consistently look to us for their next location,” said City of Broussard Mayor Ray Bourque. “The HAS Ltd. Site represents the caliber of investment our community has worked hard to attract and offer to perspective companies. Our partnership with Broussard Economic Development Corporation, LEDA, One Acadiana, and LED are what makes results like this possible.”
Utility partners, Entergy and SLEMCO, also worked closely with One Acadiana to secure certification of the site.
“The certification of the HAS Ltd. Site reflects the strength of our partnerships and Entergy Louisiana’s commitment to building economically competitive communities across the state,” said Michelle Bourg, Vice President of Business & Economic Development for Entergy Louisiana. “Working alongside Louisiana Economic Development, regional partners like One Acadiana, and local leaders like Lafayette Economic Development Authority and the Broussard Economic Development Corporation, we’re proud to support this site through a rigorous certification process that gives companies greater confidence and positions Lafayette Parish and the Acadiana Region for future growth and investment.”
“SLEMCO takes great pride in partnering with One Acadiana on site certification projects,” said SLEMCO Business Development Specialist Brennan Breaux. “They not only bring more jobs to our area, they also improve the quality of life for local residents. That makes life better for all of us.”
