BROUSSARD, La. – Today, One Acadiana (1A) in partnership with St. Martin Economic Development Authority and SLEMCO announced that a 19.91 acre site has been certified for development under One Acadiana’s Site Development Program in partnership with Louisiana Economic Development (LED).

An LED certified site is one that is shovel-ready, having completed a rigorous review process to answer as many development questions as possible. One Acadiana’s Site Development Program is designed to expand the region’s portfolio of marketable, certified sites by identifying vetted properties with strong development potential across the nine-parish region. This process completes the due diligence needed to better position sites for business attraction. By aligning site readiness efforts with the expectations of site location consultants and expanding businesses, the program helps the region compete more effectively for new investment. Since its inception, One Acadiana has certified 35 sites, representing nearly 3,000 acres of development-ready land across Acadiana.

“Through diligent site development efforts, Acadiana continues to demonstrate that we are a region ready for business,” said One Acadiana President & CEO Troy Wayman. “Every certified site strengthens our ability to compete for new investment, and One Acadiana is proud to expand our regional portfolio to 35 with this new addition in St. Martin parish. We celebrate this accomplishment alongside St. Martin Economic Development Authority and SLEMCO as we work together to create new opportunities for growth in Acadiana.”

Referred to as the Five Sisters Site, this property is situated entirely above the 100-year floodplain and provides approximately 19.91 acres of contiguous, developable property suitable for commercial, warehousing, distribution, and light industrial development. The site is strategically positioned within the growing Broussard and Cade corridor with convenient access to U.S. Highway 90 and the greater Lafayette regional transportation network. The Five Sisters Site represents St. Martin Parish’s 6th certified site and raises Acadiana’s regional total to 35.

“The certification of the Five Sisters Site represents another step forward in strengthening St. Martin Parish’s inventory of development-ready properties,” said Executive Director of the St. Martin Economic Development Authority Jennifer Stelly. “Completing the rigorous due diligence required provides prospective companies with valuable data that can help reduce uncertainty and shorten the site selection process. Every certified site adds another tool to our economic development portfolio, and we appreciate the collaboration of everyone who helped bring this project to completion.”

The property benefits from the availability of major utilities in the immediate vicinity, including electrical, telecommunications, water, and wastewater infrastructure. Utility partner, SLEMCO, also worked closely with One Acadiana to secure certification of the three Chemin sites.

“SLEMCO takes great pride in partnering with One Acadiana on site certification projects,” said SLEMCO Business Development Specialist Brennan Breaux. “They not only bring more jobs to our area, they also improve the quality of life for local residents. That makes life better for all of us.”

With its flood-free status, strategic location, industrial zoning, available infrastructure, and proximity to the Lafayette metropolitan area, the Five Sisters Site represents a competitive development opportunity within St. Martin Parish
