South Louisiana Community College (SoLAcc) is celebrating three honors in the 2026 Acadiana’s Choice Awards, recognizing the College, its Early College Academy and the Foundation for SoLAcc among Acadiana’s best.
SoLAcc earned GOLD for Best College, while the College’s Early College Academy (ECA) once again earned GOLD for Best High School. The repeat honors reflect the community’s continued confidence in SoLAcc and its commitment to providing educational opportunities that prepare students for what comes next.
“These awards are especially meaningful because they come directly from the people and communities we serve,” said Dr. Vincent June, Chancellor of SoLAcc. “We are grateful for the continued confidence Acadiana places in our College and proud of the faculty and staff whose work creates opportunities for our students and strengthens the communities we call home.”
The Foundation for SoLAcc earned SILVER for Best Nonprofit, moving up from its Bronze recognition in 2025. The Foundation supports SoLAcc students through scholarships, emergency assistance and investments in programs and opportunities that help remove barriers to education.
“We are incredibly grateful to see the Foundation recognized once again by our community,” said Lana Fontenot, Executive Director of the Foundation for SoLAcc. “Moving from Bronze to Silver is exciting, but what makes this recognition truly meaningful is knowing it represents the generosity of our donors, the commitment of our board and the impact we are making together for SoLAcc students.”
The honors come during a year in which SoLAcc’s latest Economic Impact Study found the College contributes nearly $300 million annually to the regional economy, with one out of every 97 jobs in Acadiana connected to SoLAcc’s impact. The study also found that every $1 invested in SoLAcc generates $13.50 in benefits, underscoring the College’s value to students, taxpayers and the region.
The Acadiana’s Choice Awards celebrate organizations and businesses across the region through community voting. SoLAcc is grateful to its students, alumni, employees, donors, partners and community members whose continued support makes these honors possible.
