1A Hires Director of Economic Development

Lafayette, LA – One Acadiana (1A) proudly announces the appointment of Megan Duhon as Director of Economic Development. Duhon, a seasoned professional in economic development, will lead and manage all business recruitment, retention, and expansion efforts for the nine-parish regional economic development organization.

Duhon’s career is marked by notable accomplishments during her tenure as the CEO of the Acadia Parish Chamber, where she played a crucial role in fostering economic growth in the region. Her initiatives included the establishment of the first Economic Development District in Acadia Parish, strategically positioned to generate funds for the acceleration of growth along the I-10 corridor. Notably, her collaboration with state and regional agencies resulted in a significant $16.2 million expansion for Supreme Rice’s parboil facilities.

In joining One Acadiana, Duhon expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “This move to One Acadiana is a natural one – I am eager to leverage and build upon my relationships and work in Acadia Parish that will contribute to developing an even more prosperous and vibrant Acadiana. I look forward to collaborating with the talented 1A team to foster Acadiana’s existing business, nurture its entrepreneurial spirit, and attract new business and industry aligning with the region’s needs.”

One Acadiana operates in close collaboration with local economic development partners throughout the nine-parish area, emphasizing the enhancement of quality and long-term sustainability for the regional community and economy.

In her new role, Duhon will be instrumental in implementing a comprehensive five-year strategic plan for regional business development. This includes a focus on business expansion and retention, building and site development, business intelligence, targeted marketing, lead development, and project management.

A Crowley native, Duhon earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, with a focus on Political Science and Government. She holds a Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurial Studies.

Currently enrolled in Oklahoma University’s Economic Development Institute (OUEDI), Duhon is actively pursuing credentials as a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) through the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).

Duhon officially assumed her new role at One Acadiana on Thursday, February 1.
