1A recently had the opportunity to participate in a significant milestone in our region’s economic development: the ribbon cutting for CGI’s $13.1 million, 50,000-square-foot information technology center. This beautiful, new facility serves as an anchor for the UL Lafayette Research Park and will be home to 400 high-quality IT jobs at full employment.

CGI already employs 250 technology workers in Lafayette and is recruiting candidates for more than 50 current openings. Upon full employment, total annual payroll will exceed $22 million, and LED estimates the project will result in an additional 405 permanent new indirect jobs, for a total of more than 800 new jobs in this region.

In addition to these economic impacts, CGI actively supports many other initiatives in our community, including being major investor and active supporter of 1A.
