Iberia Parish made history last week when it claimed its first certified Louisiana Economic Development site.
One Acadiana, Cleco, Acadiana Regional Airport and the Iberia Industrial Development Foundation worked in conjunction to obtain the necessary reports and documents for the certification, which is the fifth such certified site in the region. A site classified as LED certified is a development-ready site for potential businesses.
The site is a 64.3-acre tract that sits along the 8,002-foot runway at the ARA, and has now been declared “development ready” and can be utilized as a marketing tool to draw in companies that are looking for opportunities to relocate or expand in south Louisiana.
“We’ve had a number of different businesses that have expressed interest in the site. It can be subdivided into any dimensions needed,” Mike Tarantino, IDF President and CEO, said. “We already know that it’s a great place at a great location, but now we can tell them (businesses) that the property is ready to go. It’s ready to build on.”
