1. Give us a brief history of your company.

Towny was founded two years ago with a mission to encourage people to buy, bank, and give locally and reward them for doing so. Strong local economies create strong communities that cornerstones such as schools, parks, and public safety services depend on to thrive. We are creating and growing a network to help build stronger communities.

2. What would you tell the rest of Acadiana makes you special?

There are many loyalty and rewards programs and apps, but we are the only one that is exclusively for locally owned businesses and financial institutions. We use technology to create a community network that gives customers a reason to buy and bank local, and helps businesses to more easily learn from and collaborate with one another. We also use our platform to raise awareness and funding for local non-profits.

3. What are you most proud of?

Even in our short existence, we’ve been lucky to meet and work with hundreds of local business owners who are passionate about giving back. It has been a real pleasure to have a close-up view of so many big-hearted, ambitious, creative, and talented people making their communities unique.

4. Where do you see your business in 10 years? What are your plans for the future?

We hope to be making a difference in every community in America by helping customers find local businesses easier and convincing them to shop local more often, facilitating new businesses relationships among local owners, and supporting non-profits who are making a difference.

5. 1A is “Focused on Forward” – meaning we are taking an active role in improving the community we live in. Our members are Focused on Forward, too! – What does Focused on Forward mean to you? How is your company Focused on Forward?

Our company’s original name was Roll Forward. We are focused on forward in our commitment to always keep moving toward the technologies and services that help and empower local businesses the most.
