Why Grand Rapids?
With a city population of 197,000+, Grand Rapids is the only current metro area in Michigan that is growing in population. Once known as America’s Furniture Capital, Grand Rapids was recently named “Beer City USA” with 40+ breweries and an array of local attractions!
Boasting a similar regional business landscape to Acadiana, this trip will highlight: 1) public-private partnerships centered around urban core development and downtown transformational projects; 2) industry and higher education partnerships to advance research and innovation; 3) local programming created to enhance regional economic drive and quality of life, such as ArtPrize and Tech Week; and 4) strategies for talent attraction and retention in a state that is experiencing a decline in population.
