Acadiana partners announce two certified sites in St. Landry Parish

OPELOUSAS, La. (St. Landry ED) – Today, St. Landry Parish Economic Development with One Acadiana (1A) announced Port Barre Industrial Park East site, 86.80 acres and Port Barre Industrial Park Central site, 36.85 acres, have been certified under the Louisiana Economic Development (LED) Certified Sites program.

Working with partners across the region, One Acadiana’s site development efforts respond to the needs of site selectors and relocating businesses. Having a landing pad for businesses is a crucial ingredient to attracting jobs and investment to the Acadiana Region.

The Port Barre Industrial Park sites are Acadiana’s thirteenth and fourteenth certified sites and are the third and fourth certified sites in St. Landry Parish. As certified sites, they meet the state’s priority to certify large tracts of land, known as Industrial Sites.

“The Hwy 190 Corridor between Port Barre and Krotz Springs is well aligned to grow significantly as a multimodal industrial corridor that will bring in significant capital investments and job creation over the near term, said Bill Rodier, St. Landry Economic Development, Executive Director. “The certification of these sites for the Port Barre Industrial Park will help to further solidify this foundation for growth and should greatly accelerate the investment and job creation process in St Landry Parish and upper Acadiana along this important corridor.”

“The certified sites at the Port Barre Industrial Park represent what site selectors are looking for in marketable, shovel-ready land,” said Troy Wayman, President & CEO of One Acadiana. “With these certifications, Acadiana now has over 1,700 acres of certified acreage across fourteen sites. Our work with partners across the region to achieve this number of certified sites within four years shows tremendous collaboration and we’re proud to celebrate today’s accomplishment with St. Landry Parish.”

A Louisiana Economic Development Certified Site is a development-ready industrial site that has completed a rigorous review process by Louisiana Economic Development and an independent, third-party engineering firm. Specific site details, such as zoning restrictions, title work, environmental studies, soil analysis and surveys, are assessed for compliance and authenticity.

St. Landry Economic Development and 1A worked together closely to secure the certification of this site. One Acadiana's Site Development program is designed to increase the region's portfolio of marketable, development-ready sites by certifying land within the nine-parish region. This is achieved through partnership between One Acadiana, local economic development partners, Louisiana Economic Development (LED), and landowners.
