In an article featuring chemicals, energy and other projects in Louisiana, Site Selection Magazine has spotlighted two Acadiana projects, sighting that Louisiana is "on a roll."

"In early June, Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards and Lacassine Operating Company CEO Van Eversull announced the company will invest $12.5 million to construct a catalyst blending plant that will create 40 new jobs in Lacassine, in Jefferson Davis Parish in southwest Louisiana," the article says of the first Acadiana-based project. 

A group of developers wants to use a federal tax break program to bring private investment into one of Lafayette’s poorest areas.

Pride Opportunity Developers Group is outlining its plan to use opportunity zones to spur development in North Lafayette and to show investors the potential it sees for the area.

1. Give us a brief history of your company.

One Acadiana (1A) announced today that, in collaboration with local and regional partners, it will host a series of programming around the fall elections.
The Delta Regional Authority is giving the Acadiana Planning Commission a $119,000 grant to help connect investors and opportunity zones, DRA Federal Co-Chairman Chris Caldwell announced during a round table discussion Tuesday.

Federal officials are scheduled to visit Acadiana this week to discuss opportunity zone programs designed to revitalize communities.

The White House delegation, which will include a top U.S. Housing and Urban Development official, will visit Opelousas on Tuesday and Lafayette on Wednesday. Scott Turner, director of the White House Council on Opportunity and Revitalization, also is scheduled to meet with local government, education and business leaders.

Chris Credeur, AVP/ A/R and Inventory Financing Department Manager, and Carnishia Davis, Universal Banker, of JD Bank in Jennings, successfully completed the 2019 Leadership School, “Growing our Next Generation of Leaders”, a six-month program that included online course work and five instructor-led sessions focused on developing leadership skills and enhancing knowledge in various areas of banking. The program provided by the Louisiana Bankers Association and held in Baton Rouge at The Bankers Center, hosts students from all over the state.

Forums and elections with Dr. Christie Maloyed (UL Lafayette, League Women Voters) and Mr. Andre Breaux (One Acadiana), on Bayou to Beltway, 12:30 Wednesday and 5:30 Saturday.
