A panel of local experts Tuesday suggested a promising outlook for jobs and the economy in Acadiana, despite some challenges.

Presenters at The Acadiana Economic Outlook Summit 2023, presented by The Acadiana Advocate and sponsored by Entergy and Acadian Cos., said they see strength in a newly emerging regional economy that is diverse, increasingly attractive to young people, and, bolstered by higher education, more agile than in many communities.

1. Give us a brief history of your organization. 

ReHive was created in 2017 in an effort to be a real estate brokerage that offers customers the ability to sell their homes in the most efficient way for a better price than a traditional real estate brokerage by utilizing technology.

LAFAYETTE, La. – One Acadiana is kicking off its 2023 CivicCon Acadiana speaker series by hosting Dr. Ronald Ferguson of Harvard, who will give a talk on “Supporting Vibrant Early Learning.” Because 80 percent of brain growth happens by age three, the first three years of life are critical to ensuring the future health and success of our children. Dr. Ferguson will discuss the research on early brain development and offer tips and tools for parents to help build their baby’s brain.

Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Mayor-President Josh Guillory and Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Culture (PARC) Director Hollis Conway unveiled renderings of the new Brown Park Baseball and Softball Super Complex and Moore Park Soccer Super Complex. My career was always in the Ornamental Metals industry, starting in 1980 with my father as my mentor and teacher. Back then I wore a short beard and my hair started turning grey when I was 18, but by my mid-40’s, it was nearly all grey and white.

In 2008, I was a Project Manager for a company in Lake Charles, LA. On December 22, 2008, when I was 46 years old, I was lining up my crew to install a staircase. I accidentally fell 16 feet, on concrete, and had a Traumatic Brain Injury or TBI. I almost died!
