BROUSSARD, La. – Today, regional partners including Broussard Economic Development Corporation (BEDC), City of Broussard, Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA), One Acadiana (1A), SLEMCO, and St. Martin Economic Development Authority (SMEDA) joined together to announce that a 21.31-acre site located in Lafayette Parish and a 46.2 – acre site located in St. Martin Parish have been certified under the Louisiana Economic Development (LED) Certified Sites program.

“We’re excited about attracting more economic development and jobs to the area with these two new certified sites in Broussard,” said Broussard Mayor Ray Bourque. “Together with our other shovel-ready sites we’ve prepared, these sites make our community even more attractive to businesses. The great teamwork between the City of Broussard, One Acadiana, LEDA and the Broussard Economic Development Corporation is helping our city grow.”

The Lafayette Parish site, referred to as South Morgan, and the St. Martin Parish site, referred to as Mouton, make up Acadiana’s twenty-eighth and twenty-ninth certified sites. One Acadiana’s Site Development program is designed to increase the region’s portfolio of marketable, development-ready sites by certifying land within the nine-parish region. This is achieved through partnership between One Acadiana, local economic development partners, Louisiana Economic Development, and landowners. These efforts respond to the needs of site selectors and relocating businesses. Establishing a landing pad for businesses is crucial to attract jobs and investment to the Acadiana Region.

Just over 21-acres, the South Morgan site is located within the city limits of Broussard and has substantial frontage and visibility along Ambassador Caffery Parkway. The site is conveniently located less than 5 miles from U.S. Highway 90 (future I-49) and is under 20 minutes from I-10, Lafayette Regional Airport, and the Port of New Iberia. Zoned within the Ambassador Caffery District, the site is prepped for business and commercial development. BEDC, City of Broussard, LEDA, One Acadiana, and SLEMCO worked together closely to secure the certification of the South Morgan Site.

Also located within Broussard’s city limits is the Mouton site, totaling over 46 acres. The site is located just 0.35 miles from U.S. Highway 90 (future I-49) with quick access via a signalized interchange at LA Highway 92 and has emergency fire and medical services within 10 road miles. The Mouton site has minimal surface encumbrances with no environmental or cultural concerns. Partners working together closely to secure to Mouton site included BEDC, City of Broussard, SMEDA, One Acadiana, and SLEMCO.

“We congratulate our partners at BEDC, City of Broussard, LEDA, and SMEDA on the certification of the South Morgan and Mouton sites,” said Troy Wayman, President & CEO of One Acadiana. “Certifying land across the region through our partnership with LED, allows us to present competitive, marketable sites to potential companies during the business development process, which is a key component in enhancing Acadiana’s economic competitiveness. These two certified sites are significant wins for our region, positioning Acadiana for continued growth and investment.”

“Certified sites are essential for attracting new business investment and enhancing a community’s competitive edge,” said Mandi Mitchell, President and CEO of Lafayette Economic Development Authority. “Through strategic partnerships with property owners, the Broussard Economic Development Corporation and the City of Broussard have successfully worked to designate eight Louisiana Economic Development Certified Sites within city limits, positioning these sites for immediate commercial use— expediting the construction phases, accelerating hiring timelines, and generating tax revenue faster—creating a win-win scenario for companies and the Broussard community. LEDA is truly proud to serve as a partner in site certification alongside One Acadiana, the Broussard Economic Development Corporation, the City of Broussard, and our utility partners.”

“The Broussard Economic Development Corporation on behalf of The City Of Broussard takes a proactive approach to encouraging development in the community, and adding these additional certified sites are another example of how Broussard is prime for development,” said Toby Armentor, Broussard Economic Development Corporation Board President.

“SLEMCO takes great pride in partnering with One Acadiana on site certification projects,” says Brennan Breaux, Business Development Specialist at SLEMCO. “They not only bring more jobs to our area, but they also improve the quality of life for local residents. That makes life better for all of us.”
